Halwyn is new. We think honesty about that is the first thing a house owes you, because the fashion world is full of invented ancestors — the fake "since 18-something," the borrowed crest, the heritage that turns out to be a mood board. We have none of those and we will not manufacture them. Halwyn was founded in London in 2026, by people who wanted to make English weatherwear the way it ought to be made, and who were willing to start at the beginning to do it.
What we do have is a place and a point of view. The house is named for the fens — the low, wet, luminous country where the land can't decide if it is water, and where the light at dawn is worth getting cold for. That landscape decided almost everything: a house built around weather rather than against it, a colour taken from the blue hour, a check drawn from the grid of the reed beds, and a heron for a mark, because the heron is the one who stays out in it.
We cannot sell you 170 years. We can promise that the discipline is here from the first coat — and that everything we say about how a piece is made is true.
What we make, and where
We make coats first, because a coat is the honest test of a weatherwear house. Ours are cut in England, from a bonded cotton milled in Yorkshire, and finished with the small correctnesses — a storm-throat that fastens, a raglan that moves, a lining you only glimpse. Around the coats sit the things that carry the house's colour into a life: the Fen Weave scarf, the knitwear, the leather with the heron pressed into it. We keep the range small on purpose. A house should be a set of icons you can name, not a grid you get lost in.
How we behave
Three commitments hold the house together, and we would rather be judged against them than against a story we made up.
Invent, never borrow
Our motif, our mark, our names are our own. A new house that leans on someone else's recognition has not started; it has costumed.
One honest price
We do not hold sales. We set a price we can stand behind and stand behind it, and we make a fair thing right at our own cost.
Made to be kept
Reproofing for life, repair at cost, a coat that looks better at five years than five weeks. Ownership is a relationship, not a transaction.
That is the whole of it, for now. A young house has to earn the words "heritage" and "icon" one honest coat at a time — so that is what we intend to do.
